When files are uploaded, we read and index the existing IPTC and XMP metadata created by Photoshop, PhotoMechanic, Lightroom or Microsoft Office applications. This metadata can include creator, keywords, description, creation date, GPS data, and a whole host of other metadata. We read these tags from photo files, PDF and Office files.

Metadata Tagging
Most DAMs will let you search some metadata, but very few will allow you to tag your files comprehensively. Mediagraph was designed from the ground up to be a great tool for both searching and adding metadata.

Drag-and-Drop Tagging
Staff members with tagging privileges can add tags by simple drag and drop. You can select 1, 10, or a thousand files and drag them onto keywords, events or people to assign the tags. You can also do this for Creator and Rights Packages. This makes tagging fast and easy, even for large sets of files.
Bulk Tagging
Taggers and above can add tags in bulk. Select files, and go to the Action Menu. You’ll see several options in the Add Metadata menu. When bulk tagging single-value fields, you can specify Append, Replace, or Only add if empty. Library and Content Managers can also access Rights Tagging in the Action Menu.
Tag in the Table View
Sometimes the best way to tag is in a table view. This lets you view a group of files and see the descriptions and tags for the entire group. So, for instance, you can review which files are missing Descriptions and spend your time on just these files. Or check out which ones have keyword tags and concentrate on files with no keywords.
Tag in the Asset Detail View
Of course, you can also tag directly in the Asset Detail view. This allows you to add tags as you look through your files without changing to a new interface. The Asset Detail view also provides access to many metadata fields that are not available in other views.
Tag in the Map View
Most smartphones will tag images and videos with GPS data, which is helpful. But what about all those files you may have with no GPS data? We make it easy to add GPS data to files using a map. Do this one at a time or too many files at once.
Tag Verification with 'Has Tag' / 'Does Not Have Tag'
An essential part of metadata tagging is checking your work. Did everything that I tagged deserve that tag? Did I miss anything? We provide a verification tool right at your fingertips. You can easily filter the current set of files to see which files have a particular tag. And you can also show any files that do not have a tag to see if you have missed anything.
Require Certain Tags on Upload
You can request or require specific metadata fields whenever you allow General Members to upload files. This can include the creator name, related events, usage permissions, and keywords. Tag Suggesters encourage your members to use approved keywords.
Crowdsource Tagging
Sometimes the facts about a file are only known by your community and not yet by the archivist. This is especially true of people and events in the organization’s history. You can allow structured tagging by stakeholders. People with tagging privileges can “lend” that permission to others for specific lightboxes. This will enable you to gather information for particular files without opening the entire account.
